Bangladesh cricket team will be without batting consultant Ashwell Prince in the upcoming five-match T20I home series against Australia.
Prince revealed this to the media Wednesday.
According to former South Africa batsman Prince, negotiation over the contract with Bangladesh Cricket Board is yet to be completed.
Prince was initially signed, in June, for Bangladesh's tour of Zimbabwe only.
BCB is satisfied with Prince's performance on tour of Zimbabwe and the players have also given a positive feedback.
The board had offered Prince an extension to the job till the World T20I, scheduled to take place in October-November this year in the United Arab Emirates and Oman.
“Unfortunately, I won’t be joining for the Australia series. Unfortunately, we [me and the BCB] have not been able to reach an agreement on all the clauses in the contract yet. I hope that we will be able to do so before the New Zealand series,” said Prince in a message to a query by a Dhaka-based television channel Wednesday.
The revelation was made a day after BCB cricket operations committee chairman Akram Khan talked of a contract extension with Prince.
“We had appointed him for the Zimbabwe series initially. Since it will be hard to get a coach before the World T20I, we took a bit of feedback and it has been generally positive. I think some of our batsmen did really well in Zimbabwe. Some of the players told us that they have confidence in him. They are satisfied with his work,” Akram had said Tuesday amid negotiation with Prince.
Bangladesh will play five T20Is against Australia between August 3 to 9, behind closed doors at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
Both Bangladesh and Australia teams are scheduled to reach Dhaka Thursday.
Bangladesh team are coming home following a month-long tour of Zimbabwe comprising one Test, three ODIs and three T20Is.
Australia are travelling to Dhaka from the West Indies having played a five-match T20I and a three-match ODI series.
