Bangladesh Cricket Board has decided to extend the agreement with national batting consultant Ashwell Prince till the World T20I that is scheduled to take place in October-November this year in the United Arab Emirates and Oman.
Former South Africa cricketer Prince was initially signed, in June, for Bangladesh's tour of Zimbabwe only.
BCB cricket operations committee chairman Akram Khan while speaking to the media Monday had confirmed the board’s decision.
However, negotiation on terms for the extension between Prince and the BCB was ongoing when this report was filed.
Akram informed that the board is satisfied with Prince's performance on tour of Zimbabwe and that it has received positive feedback from the players.
“We had appointed him for the Zimbabwe series initially. Since it will be hard to get a coach before the World T20I, we took a bit of feedback and it has been generally positive. I think some of our batsmen did really well in Zimbabwe. Some of the players told us that they have confidence in him. They are satisfied with his work,” said Akram.
If the negotiation between Prince and the board ends successfully, Bangladesh national team will have the service of the former Proteas cricketer for a busy schedule ahead.
Bangladesh upon their return from Zimbabwe Thursday will host Australia for a five-match T20I series in Dhaka.
This will be followed by the home series against New Zealand and England before the World T20I.
