Bangladesh’s premier all-rounder Shakib al Hasan has achieved yet another feat in international cricket as he became just the second man and fastest to complete the double of 12,000 runs and 500 wickets.

Shakib en route to his match-winning unbeaten 96-run innings, which also sealed the series for visitors, against Zimbabwe reached the milestone on Sunday at Harare Sports Club.

The ace all-rounder, who seemed to be struggling with bat recently, was 26 runs short of 12,000-run mark before the match and he played one of his most responsible innings to salvage his side while reaching the milestone.

The left-hander accomplished the double in his 348th appearance in international arena, eclipsing South African legend Jacques Kallis, the only other player to achieve the double, as the Proteas all-rounder needed 420 matches to register the feat.

The current series is presenting Shakib, who has innumerable record in international cricket, some chances to add some more accolades in his illustrious career.

The southpaw got past former Bangladeshi captain Mashrafe bin Murtaza, who ended his career with 269 ODI-wicket, to become the highest wicket taker in ODI for Bangladesh. The left-arm spinner, who has 276 ODI wickets till date, comfortably tops the other two formats- Tests and T20Is, with 215 and 92 wickets respectively.

The next double, 600 wickets and more than 10,000 runs is yet to achieve by any human being and the Bangladeshi require 17 more wickets to attain that unprecedented achievement.
