Bangladesh batsmen had a good outing on day one of the two-day warm-up game against Zimbabwe Select XI at Takashinga Sports Club in Harare Saturday.

Shakib al Hasan batting at No 5 led the scoreboard on the day, scoring 74 runs off 56 deliveries before getting off the pitch as retired not out.

Other batsmen too got to see runs as two more half-centuries were registered in the innings.

Opener Shadman Islam was the only one to leave the field in frustration after getting out for a duck despite facing 30 deliveries.

At stumps, Bangladesh posted 313 and had lost only two wickets, while other batters were called back after having faced and scored some runs.

Bangladesh batted first after winning the toss.

Saif Hasan and Nazmul Hossain Shanto recovered the shaky start after the departure of Shadman.

Both Saif and Shanto registered half-centuries scoring 65 and 52 respectively before they were called back to the dressing room as retired not out.

Bangladesh captain Mominul Haque was able to add 29 to the tally before falling to leg-spinner Brighton Chipungu.

Liton Das will be relived having scored 37, amid a below-par form, before being called back to the dressing room for the day.

After 90 overs, Mahmudullah, playing his first longer format game for Bangladesh in 16 months, was unbeaten on 40 with Mehedi Hasan Miraz on five on the other end of the crease.

Two prominent batters of the team, Tamim Iqbal and Mushfiqur Rahim, remained in the dressing room as the duo was rested due to respective injuries.

Opener Tamim was advised a two-week rest to recover from a knee injury picked up during the recently concluded Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League T20.

The left-handed batsman missed out from playing the Super League phase of the tournament for his team Prime Bank Cricket Club.

On the other hand, wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiq has been recovering from a hairline fracture incurred on the left-hand during the same tournament as Tamim.

Chances are that both Tamim and Mushfiq might be rested in the lone Test, scheduled to begin Wednesday.

The national selection panel had called in Mahmudullah in the Test fold as back-up.

It is understood that both Tamim and Mushfiq are being prepared for the three-match ODI series against the host nation, as the matches are part of the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Super League.
