Lt. Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited stunned Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited by 16 runs in their Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League Twenty20 match, while Brothers Union and Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club won their respective games Monday.
Mohammedan v Sheikh Jamal
Batting first at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Sheikh Jamal scored 161 losing five wickets in their stipulated 20 overs.
Skipper Nurul Hasan played a captain’s knock to guide his team to a challenging total with a 66-run innings off 34 deliveries.
The wicketkeeper-batsman smashed four fours and five sixes.
All-rounder Ziaur Rahman also scored 35 off 17 balls with three over boundaries.
In reply, Mohammedan managed to score 145 for the loss of eight wickets in their allotted 20 overs.
Nadif Chowdhury was the top-scorer with 57, but Mohammedan eventually fell short in the end.
Star all-rounder and Mohammedan skipper Shakib al Hasan scored just two runs with the bat, although he was impressive with the ball as he took two wickets conceding just 12 runs in his quota of four overs.
Brothers v Old DOHS
Brothers held their nerve to clinch a two-run win against Old DOHS Sports club at BKSP 4.
Chasing 140 for victory, Old DOHS posted 137 in 20 overs, but surprisingly, they still had seven wickets in hand.
Mysukur Rahman was the highest scorer for Brothers with an unbeaten 68.
Doleshwar v Shinepukur
Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club chased down 163 with four wickets and two balls remaining.
Saif Hasan and Fazle Mahmud laid the foundation for Doleshwar for a tricky chase with 50 and 41 respectively, but captain Farhad Reza was the hero for Doleshwar as the veteran all-rounder made 27 off just 11 deliveries with two fours and as many sixes.
Earlier, Shinepukur Cricket Club scored 162 losing seven wickets, riding on Sabbir Hossain’s 36 and Mahidul Islam Ankon’s 44.
