Right-arm pacer Rubel Hossain picked up four wickets to help Prime Bank Cricket Club defend 168 and register a 72-run win against Partex Sporting Club in the Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League Twenty20 at BKSP Ground 3 in Savar Monday.
Taking first guard, Prime Bank saw captain and opener Tamim Iqbal add a flashy 33-ball 47 with four boundaries and two over boundaries, while wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Mithun remained unbeaten on 57 to take the total to 167 for five.
Mithun in his 36-ball innings hammered three fours and as many sixes.
Defending the total, Prime Bank bowlers toyed with an inexperienced Partex batting lineup and bundled them for 95 in 17.2 overs.
Only three Partex batsmen could reach double digit with opener Abbas Musa scoring the highest, 29 off 13 balls, before being dismissed by Rubel.
Rubel finished with a four-for, conceding 30 runs in his quota of four overs, while Nahidul Islam and Nayeem Hasan notched two wickets each.
Rupganj v Gazi Group
Gazi Group Cricketers recorded their second win of the tournament, defeating Legends of Rupganj by seven wickets at BKSP Ground 3.
Chasing 133, opener Soumya Sarkar struck a 43-ball 53 with four boundaries and two over boundaries, while Mominul Haque added 34 to the tally to guide Gazi Group to victory.
Captain Mahmudullah remained undefeated on 15.
Batting first, Rupganj earlier posted 132 for eight after 20 overs with opener Mehedi Maruf scoring the most in the innings.
The right-handed batsman scored a run-a-ball 24.
Mahedi Hasan, Mukidul Islam and Mahmudullah took two wickets each for Gazi Group.
