Blistering Tamim propels Prime Bank to victory

Tamim hammered the opposition bowlers with two boundaries and five maximums to get Prime Bank off to a winning start

Abahani Limited, Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited, Prime Bank Cricket Club and Lt. Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited got off to a winning start in the Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier Twenty20 League 2019-20 Monday.

Batsmen Tamim Iqbal, Mushfiqur Rahim and Tasamul Haque were under the limelight for their respective teams, while decent performances were recorded with the ball.

Two of the games, between Old DOHS and Legends of Rupganj and the other between Brothers Union and Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club ended in no result due to rain and wet outfield at the BKSP grounds.

Prime Bank opener Tamim pulled up a blistering innings to propel the side to a seven-wicket win in a curtailed over game at BKSP Ground 3.

The game in the afternoon had a delayed start due to inclement weather and wet outfield and the time lost turned the affair into a 12-over game.

Chasing 92, left-handed batsman Tamim hammered the opposition bowlers with two boundaries and five maximums to get Prime Bank off to a flying start despite losing the other opener Anamul Haque (five) early.

Tamim smashed 46 off 22 and lost his wicket to spinner Mahedi Hasan with the team on 75 for two.

Prime Bank lost another wicket, that of Rony Talukdar for 25 before reaching the target in 9.2 overs and losing three wickets.

Mahedi bagged two wickets for Gazi Group.

Earlier, Gazi Group were asked to bat first and found only Zakir Hasan putting on more than 20 on the board.

Zakir added an unbeaten 26 to the tally, while openers Mahedi and Soumya Sarkar added 16 and 14 respectively.

Left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman and spinner Nayeem Hasan notched two wickets apiece for Prime Bank.
