The Bangladesh cricket team reached Kandy Monday afternoon for the two-match Test series against hosts Sri Lanka.
The visiting side upon reaching the host city located in the Central Province of the island nation, rested for most of the day expect for a team meeting held in the evening.
It is understood that the team management made an internal announcement of a 17-member squad for the first Test, scheduled to start from Wednesday at Pallakele International Cricket Stadium.
The 17 cricketers, except for wicketkeeper-batsman Nurul Hasan, off-spinner Shuvagata Hom, pacers Mukidul Islam and Khaled Ahmed, have been asked to be mentally prepared for the game.
A final call on the squad, which is likely to involve 16 players, will be made Tuesday.

Bangladesh team carried a 21-member squad for the two Tests which are part of the World Test Championship.
The players who are not part of the squad will remain with the team but will not be allowed in the dressing room during the game.
Bangladesh reached Colombo on April 12 and were allowed to use the practice facilities in Negombo following a three-day room quarantine, part of the Covid-19 safety protocol.
The Bangladesh cricketers before travelling to Kandy played a two-day intra-squad practice match to cope with the local condition.
