West Indies 223/5 at stumps, day one

Bangladesh made three changes in their playing XI from the last Test as Soumya, Mithun  and Jayed came in replacing Shadman, Shakib and Mustafizur

Visiting West Indies have scored 223 runs losing five wickets from 90 overs at stumps on day one against hosts Bangladesh during their second Test in Mirpur’s Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium Thursday.

Bangladesh picked up three wickets in the second session, including last match's hero Kyle Mayers.

The double centurion of the first Test got out for just five when he was caught by Soumya Sarkar at slip off the bowling of Abu Jayed Rahi to leave the side on 116/4.

But West Indies lost just one wicket in the final session as Nkrumah Bonner was not out on 74 while Joshua da Silva was on 22.

During the second session, Kraigg Brathwaite, the West Indies captain, was out for 47 when he was caught at slip by Nazmul Hossain Shanto off a Soumya delivery.

Paceman Jayed picked up the first wicket after lunch when Shayne Moseley played on for seven.

Opener John Campbell (36) was the only Windies batsman who was dismissed in the morning session on day one.

Left-arm spinner Taijul Islam got the breakthrough when he trapped Campbell in front as he missed the straight ball while trying a sweep shot, in the fourth ball of the 21st over.

The West Indies won the first Test in Chittagong to lead the two-match series, which is part of the World Test Championship, by 1-0.
