Sri Lanka cricket team will tour Bangladesh in May for a three-match ODI series, confirmed a high official of Bangladesh Cricket Board Wednesday.

“Sri Lanka team will come in May to play three matches that will be part of the ODI Super League,” BCB cricket operations committee chairman Akram Khan told reporters in the port city where Bangladesh are taking on visiting West Indies in the first of two-Test series.

Akram also confirmed Bangladesh’s pending tour of the Island country for a two-Test series will take place, but the itinerary is not confirmed yet.

“We are expected to visit Sri Lanka (for playing the Test series that was postponed earlier) as it is also confirmed but the date is yet to be finalized,” said the former national team captain.

Akram however, said Bangladesh’s scheduled tour of Zimbabwe in June-July for two Tests and three ODIs is yet to be confirmed.

“The Zimbabwe series is yet to be confirmed but we will confirm it shortly,” he said, adding that before any decision their first priority is to make sure that the cricketers are safe and sound to play cricket considering the bio-bubble takes a toll on the mental health of the cricketers.

“We are thinking of resting our cricketers as well because it is very difficult for our cricketers to play continuously in the bio-bubble because it is a big pressure on them and we have kept that in mind. So we have to consider before confirming any tour,” he concluded.
