Former New Zealand all-rounder Craig McMillan is unable to take his role as Bangladesh batting consultant for the tour of Sri Lanka this year due to a loss in the family.
McMillan was appointed in the Bangladesh set-up last month for the three-match Test series, part of the World Test Championship.
BCB Saturday announced McMillan’s decision to not take up the role.
“Craig has communicated to us that his father has passed away recently and therefore it would not be possible for him to take up the batting consultant’s position of the national team for the upcoming tour at this moment of grief. We fully understand his situation. Our sympathies are with Craig and his family during this difficult time,” stated BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury in a media release.
McMillan was expected to join the Bangladesh team during their pre-tour camp in Sri Lanka.
With the latest development, BCB now will need to look into new options.
McMillan replaced South African Neil McKenzie, who resigned from his role last month.
