BCB suspends training at Mirpur amid Covid-19 scare

According to source, the situation will be observed in the upcoming days before a decision is taken

Bangladesh national team’s individual practice sessions, under special arrangement of the Bangladesh Cricket Board, have been halted for the next few days after some coaching staff members exhibited Covid-19 symptoms.

Tamim Iqbal, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah, Mohammad Mithun, Soumya Sarkar, Liton Das, Imrul Kayes, Sabbir Rahman, Anamul Haque, Afif Hossain, Taskin Ahmed, Shafiul Islam, Al Amin Hossain, Taijul Islam, Rubel Hossain, Mustafizur Rahman and Mehedi Hasan Rana were among the cricketers who trained at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the last few days.

The practice sessions mostly comprised individual training, but small group sessions started a few days ago at the home of cricket in Mirpur.

The individual sessions began before Eid-ul-Adha and after the Eid holidays, a large number of players joined across five venues of the country.

The Tigers and the High Performance Unit are scheduled to travel to Sri Lanka later this month where the former will lock horns with the host in a three-match Test series, part of the World Test Championship.

Bangladesh has registered 32 deaths from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, taking the number of total fatalities to 4,383. 

The country also confirmed 319,686 total infections with 2,158 people testing positive in the last 24 hours, according to the press release sent by Directorate General of Health Services.
