Bangladesh Test captain Mominul Haque believes players can benefit from the lockdown period in the last few months as they tried to improve their mental aspects of the game with coaches.
Mominul was one of 11 cricketers who practiced at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur in the second phase of the individual training session, which started Saturday across five venues of the country with 26 players.
Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah, Imrul Kayes, Mohammad Mithun, Shadman Islam, Sabbir Rahman, Shafiul Islam, Mehedi Hasan Rana, Taskin Ahmed and Taijul Islam also practiced in Mirpur according to schedule.
“In this time of lockdown, we have discussed a lot of things about different aspects in cricket. We did not have that much work in the field. So we worked on our fitness, few of us worked on our psychological aspects of the game,” said Mominul to the media after training.
“We have also discussed with coaches about various tactical and technical things, how we can improve our game as a team when cricket returns. Some players worked individually to improve their performance. I think there were a lot of positive discussions in the last few months, which will help us a lot.
“Actually when we are within the game or having a busy schedule, then there is little scope for working with these kind of technical things. So I believe all these things will be helpful for us.”
All sorts of cricket activities have been suspended in the country since mid-March due to the novel coronavirus pandemic.
