The training camp of the Bangladesh U-19 cricket team may start in late August after clearance from the government regarding the Covid-19 pandemic situation.
Bangladesh Cricket Board’s game development committee held a meeting at the BCB premises Wednesday where it discussed the course of plan for the age-level teams of the Tigers.
“U-19 World Cup will take place after just 16 months. We have discussed about the preparation of the next U-19 World Cup. Already we are behind the schedule date as we are not able to train in the field. So we are looking for options. We have discussed that if the government allows us and if the Covid-19 situation improves in our country then we might start the U-19 camp after Eid-ul-Azha. But that also depends on various factors,” BCB game development committee chairman Khaled Mahmud Sujon informed to the media.
“There is no specific date. We are planning to start from late August. If we get the international hostel facility at Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishthan, then we can start the camp by completing quarantine process and then may start practicing in late August. It can be a training camp of four weeks. Selection for one-dayers in age-level has not been completed yet so our selectors will also be there to observe the camp,” he added.
All the cricket activities of the country have been stopped since mid-March this year due to the coronavirus outbreak.
