Khelaghar safe as Partex, Victoria relegated

Update : 29 May 2017, 06:14 PM
Khelaghar Samaj Kalyan Samity successfully avoided relegation from the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League 2016-17 season. Khelaghar defeated Partex Sporting Club by eight wickets in the Relegation League game on Monday in Fatullah to ensure safety with a game to spare. This result means Partex and Victoria Sporting Club will be relegated from the Dhaka League. Khelaghar had entered the Relegation League phase with six points while the two others teams, Partex and Victoria, had two points each. Khelaghar needed only one win to remain in the top tier of the country's premier 50-over tournament. On Monday, Khelaghar literally bulldozed Partex. Batting first, Partex batsmen were humbled as they were all out for only 73 runs. Boosted by Tanvir Islam’s six-wicket haul, Khelaghar bowlers took only 25.1 overs to end Partex's innings. Irfan Sukkur top-scored for Partex with 27 while no other batsmen crossed 12. Chasing the target, Khelaghar reached their destination in just 15.1 overs. Robiul Islam Robi was the highest scorer with 34 while Amit Majumder remained unbeaten on 23. In the second game of the Relegation League, Victoria will take on Partex at the same venue on Thursday.BRIEF SCOREKhelaghar 77/2 in 15.1 overs (Robiul 34, Amit 23*) beat Partex 73 in 25.1 overs (Tanvir 6/18, Dollar 2/22) by eight wickets TUESDAY'S MATCHESGazi v Prime, FatullahDoleshwar v Abahani, BKSP 3Jamal v Mohammedan, BKSP 4 POINTS TABLETeams M W L PtsKhelaghar 12 4 8 8Partex 12 1 11 2Victoria 11 1 10 2
