Bangladesh ODI captain Tamim Iqbal has announced the final episode of his series of live shows on Facebook and Youtube.
On Saturday, Tamim will appear for the finale session with Mashrafe bin Mortaza, Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah at 10:30pm.
Opener Tamim has been hosting the chat shows since May 2 not only with his colleagues but also foreign cricketers and former players with the intention of keeping the cricketers’ followers entertained as the world passes a critical time battling the coronavirus pandemic.
Before finishing his episode with New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson on Thursday afternoon, Tamim clarified the long awaited queries as to when all-rounder Shakib al Hasan will join him for a session.
Left-handed batsman Tamim informed that he wanted to end the series with an episode featuring all five stalwarts - Mashrafe, Shakib, Mahmudullah, Mushfiq and Tamim himself.
However, Tamim said while three of his colleagues agreed to the invitation for the session, Shakib remained unavailable.
“Our last episode will be on Saturday [May 23] at 10:30pm. I hope that everyone will watch it. I want to make one thing clear. I have seen many asking when will Shakib appear on the show. The thing is, I contacted him about 10 to 12 days ago because I wanted the last show to have all five of us together. This is what I had planned and was my biggest desire [doing these live sessions],” said Tamim.
"But unfortunately, maybe for some reason, Shakib cannot join us. I feel there is no need to have any further discussion about this. People may have their personal reasons and everyone should respect that. But I am grateful to the other three [Mashrafe, Mushfiq and Mahmudullah] who agreed to do this," he added.
Tamim had started the series of live sessions with his long time Bangladesh team colleague Mushfiq on May 2 before hosting Mahmudullah and former ODI captain Mashrafe.
The following episodes featured Rubel Hossain, Taskin Ahmed, former skippers Naimur Rahman, Habibul Bashar and Khaled Mahmud and, most recently among teammates, Mominul Haque, Soumya Sarkar, Liton Das and Taijul Islam.
One of the episodes had three more captains Akram Khan, Minhajul Abedin and Khaled Mashud along with Pakistan fast bowling legend Wasim Akram as special guest.
On May 13, Tamim hosted his first foreign guest in the form of former South Africa skipper Faf du Plessis, and followed it up with Indian batting giants Rohit Sharma on May 15 and Virat Kohli on May 18.
