India opening batsman Rohit Sharma told Bangladesh ODI captain Tamim Iqbal during his Facebook live show Friday that Bangladesh is the only place where the Indian team do not get any support while playing.

Tamim is operating live shows from his social media accounts in recent times as it created much hype among cricket fans in Bangladesh.

Besides local superstars, former South Africa skipper Faf du Plessis also appeared on the show Wednesday.

Rohit was the latest guest and talked with Tamim for about 42 minutes.

The two experienced openers from the neighboring countries shared many thoughts with each other.

At one point, Tamim light-heartedly reminded Rohit of his batting performances against Bangladesh in the last three ICC events – centuries in the 2015 World Cup, 2017 Champions Trophy and 2019 World Cup.

Tamim said he dropped the catch of Rohit in the 2019 World Cup match in the UK where the latter went on to score a match-winning hundred, and informed that the former still gets trolled for that missed opportunity.

In reply, Rohit said Bangladesh fans are extremely passionate about the game and that Bangladesh is the only place in the world where the Indian team do not get any support while playing.

“Fans in India-Bangladesh are extremely passionate about cricket. Actually every player goes to field to win the game. Whenever we do mistakes (Indian players), we are also criticized, not only from media but also from the people watching the game. I am very sure it’s same in Bangladesh as well. Because I have been to Bangladesh and I have seen how passionate is everyone out there who watch the game, especially at the ground. When we come to the ground to play the match, it’s unbelievable scene. Because India are not used to have no support at the ground,” said Rohit to Tamim.

“I think Bangladesh is the only place where we don’t get any support. Maybe only 100 or 200 people supporting us.  Anywhere in the world we go, we (India team) get support. But in Bangladesh we get no support (smiles). And hats off to the people who come to watch the game,” the right-handed batsman added.

Tamim is planning a few more shows in the coming days with the aim of entertaining sports lovers in the country as all sorts of sports activities are currently stopped due to the coronavirus outbreak.
