Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib al Hasan has decided to auction one of his favorite bats to raise funds for the coronavirus pandemic.
Shakib announced on Facebook Live Tuesday that he would auction one of his bats which he used during the 2019 World Cup in England and Wales.
Shakib had a superb World Cup last year as the left-hander scored 606 runs in eight matches with an average of 86.57 and strike rate of 96.03.
Shakib scored five fifties and two centuries (against England and the West Indies) in the tournament where Bangladesh finished eighth out of 10 teams.
Shakib also took 11 wickets, including a five-wicket haul against Afghanistan.
The auction will take place on April 22, 10pm Bangladesh Standard Time through Auction4Action Facebook page.
Shakib posted in his official Facebook page: “This is a very special bat to me, but my people are even more special to me. Due to this crisis, I have finally decided to auction my SG bat through which I scored 1,500 runs and performed so well at the ICC World Cup in 2019 with all your blessings.
“You can bid for this bat at the Facebook page of Auction4Action where I will be live at 10pm BST on Wednesday, April 22, 2020. Let's bid as high as possible and help as many people as we can. Only as a team can we win this battle. See you all there!”
Earlier, wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim also announced to put his SS bat in auction, the one he used to score his first Test double century, against Sri Lanka in Galle in 2013.
