Bangladesh wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim has received the green signal to return to competitive action after recovering from a hamstring injury, Chief BCB physician Dr Debashish Chowdhury has said.
Dr Debashish made the statement at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, Dhaka Tuesday.
Mushfiq is now fit to take part in the second round of the eighth edition of the franchise-based first-class Bangladesh Cricket League, scheduled to get underway Friday.
Mushfiq passed the fitness test in Mirpur Tuesday and will be in contention for a place in the side for the lone Test match against Zimbabwe, slated for later this month, if he plays well in the BCL.

“Mushfiq has been struggling with a hamstring injury for some time. He went through a rehab program. Since Mushfiq’s injury was a grade one tear, we were hoping he’d be back in the second week of February. He underwent a test [Tuesday] and did well actually. He is fit and can participate in the upcoming matches without any hindrance,” said Dr Debashish.
Meanwhile, opening batsman Imrul Kayes, who also took the fitness test Tuesday, is also fit for the BCL second round after recuperating from calf muscle injury and successfully undergoing rehab, according to the chief BCB physician.
Dr Debashish also gave injury updates on pacer Khaled Ahmed, opener Shadman Islam and U-19 team pacer Mrittunjoy Chowdhury.
The doctor said Khaled will not return before the end of this month, while Shadman and Mrittunjoy will be out for quite a while yet.

Khaled last represented Bangladesh, in the longer version, away to New Zealand in February-March last year. Shadman was not included in the squad for the first Test against Pakistan in Rawalpindi, scheduled to begin Friday.
Mrittunjoy came home from South Africa midway through the U-19 World Cup due to a shoulder injury.
“Khaled had almost recovered full fitness after rehab following his meniscus injury, when he unfortunately suffered the side strain injury. His rehab has been pushed back a little. Hopefully, he will be fully fit within the next two weeks, by the end of February,” the physician said.
“We have been struggling with the management of Shadman’s elbow injury and Mrittunjoy’s shoulder injury. Due to his injury, Mrittunjoy came back home from the U-19 World Cup (in South Africa). He [Mrittunjoy] is an extremely talented player. The board wants us to contact Australia for better treatment of these two players. The process is already underway. If everything goes well, we will send them to a hand and shoulder surgeon by the end of this month.
