Bangladesh U-19 cricket team held their Australian counterparts to a dramatic tie in the warm-up match in Pretoria Monday, ahead of the U-19 World Cup, all set to get underway Friday.
Batting first, the junior Tigers posted a challenging 250 runs losing six wickets in 43 overs, Shamim Hossain (59 not out), Towhid Hridoy (53) and Parvez Hossain Emon (52 retired out) leading the way with half-centuries.
Emon and Tanzid Hasan (32) put on 70 for the opening wicket and laid the platform for the competitive total as the youngsters in red and green eventually reached the 250-mark.
Australia’s Todd Murphy bagged two wickets.
In reply, the Aussies were all out for 250 in 43 overs, Shariful Islam causing the most damage taking four wickets, while Hasan Murad picked up a couple.

Australia’s Sam Fanning scored the highest 46 for his side.
The tie against mighty Australia will come as a relief in the Bangladesh camp after two practice matches against Afghanistan were washed out.
Bangladesh have been grouped in Pool C alongside Pakistan, Zimbabwe and Scotland and will begin their U-19 World Cup campaign Saturday against the Zimbabweans.
The junior Tigers will then take on Scotland and Pakistan on January 21 and 24 respectively.
All the Group C matches will be held in Potchefstroom.
