Mashrafe: If it was upto me, I’d go to Pakistan

The right-arm paceman will not travel to Pakistan anyways, as the tour only comprises two Test matches and three T20Is, two formats in which Mashrafe has already called it a day

Bangladesh Cricket Board is yet to take a final decision on the impending tour of Pakistan but Tigers’ ODI captain Mashrafe bin Mortaza has said if it was upto him, he’d travel to the country.

The right-arm paceman will not travel to Pakistan anyways, as the tour only comprises two Test matches and three T20Is, two formats in which Mashrafe has already called it a day.

But following the match between Mashrafe’s Dhaka Platoon and Rangpur Rangers in the Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League Twenty20 at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka Friday, the charismatic captain informed that on a personal note, he has no reservations about traveling to Pakistan.

“Honestly if you ask whether I want to go to Pakistan to play or not, then my answer is yes. But even then I had to talk with my family first. I don’t know exactly my family’s decision on this as this is the first time we are discussing about the matter. So yes I would go. But it also depends on my family as well,” Mashrafe told the media.

“But that does not mean players who have opposed to go there are wrong. Because life always comes first before sports. So individual decision always comes first and with due respect, everyone is right from their own perspective or situation,” he added.
