Bangladesh trail dominant India by 89 more runs in the second innings after the Tigers ended day two on 152 for the loss of six wickets in 32.3 overs as the Eden Gardens pink-ball Test match eventually went into the third day.
It was another horrible batting performance by hapless Bangladesh, especially the top-order, as they lost their first four wickets with just 13 on the board during day two in the City of Joy.
Within 6.4 overs, openers Shadman Islam (nought) and Imrul Kayes (five), stand-in captain Mominul Haque (nought) and the out of touch Mohammad Mithun (six) all departed in meek fashion.
The visiting side were staring at yet another humiliating low total after folding for just 106 in the first innings, that too in only 30.3 overs.
From that point, No 5 batsman Mushfiqur Rahim and all-rounder Mahmudullah showed some fight and halted the slide with a gritty 69-run stand.
Having already been forced into two concussion substitutions on day one of the day-night Test against @BCCI, @BCBtigers were in a panic on day two when Mohammad Mithun became the third batsman from the team to be struck in the helmet.https://t.co/dsh1Ca9O8F#BCBTIGERS #BCB #BCCI

But Mahmudullah pulled his hamstring while trying to take a quick single and later retired hurt after scoring 39 off 41 deliveries with seven boundaries.
Concussion substitute Mehedi Hasan Miraz then came out to bat at No 7 and added 51 with Mushfiq to take a thankful Bangladesh past the 100-run mark.
Miraz though was then undone by good quality fast bowling and was caught at first slip off righ-arm pacer Ishant Sharma.
Another concussion sub Taijul Islam (11) was the last batsman to be dismissed before umpires called off the day’s play at 8:30pm local time.
The tenacious Mushfiq finished unbeaten on 59 on day two, playing a fighting innings to salvage some measure of pride for the Tigers with an innings comprising 10 boundaries.
@BCBtigers stand-in skipper Mominul Haque has had a torrid time in the historic pink ball Test against @BCCI, being dismissed for a duck in both innings.https://t.co/Wen6jFEYdR#BCBTIGERS #BCB #TIGERS #BANGLADESHCRICKET #BANGLADESH #CRICKET #MOMINULHAQUE #MOMINUL #HAQUE #BCCI

He did though survive two close lbw calls as, on both the occasions, the umpires adjudged him trapped in front, but Mushfiq reviewed successfully.
TV replays showed the ball hit the bat and gloves respectively.
After the day’s proceedings, a team management source informed that Mahmudullah’s situation will be observed today afternoon prior to the start of play, and a decision will then be taken as to whether he would come out to bat.
Ishant was the standout bowler for India with four wickets, taking his match tally to nine, while right-arm paceman Umesh Yadav picked up two.
India earlier declared their first innings on 347 for nine in 89.4 overs in the evening session after starting the day on 174/3 in 46 overs, thus taking a 241-run lead.
One of the few bright moments for @BCBtigers on day two of the day-night Test match against @BCCI was a spectacular diving catch by Taijul Islam to dismiss Indian skipper @imVkohli.https://t.co/fkKnJp3Wml#BCBTIGERS #BCB #TIGERS #BANGLADESHCRICKET #BANGLADESH #CRICKET #INDIA

Skipper Virat Kohli led from the front and picked up his 27th Test ton in the afternoon session.
Kohli eventually got out scoring 136 off 194 balls with 18 fours.
It was a brilliant catch from Taijul at deep fine leg to remove Kohli off the bowling of right-arm paceman Ebadat Hossain.
The Tigers bowled well with the second new ball and took quick wickets prior to the evening session.
Right-arm pacemen Al Amin Hossain and Ebadat bagged three wickets each while Abu Jayed and Taijul notched two and one accordingly.
