Barisal Division batsmen Shamsur Rahman and Marshall Ayub also scored centuries against Dhaka Metropolis on the same day

Update : 18 Nov 2019, 09:02 PM

Khulna Division captain Nurul Hasan scored a brilliant unbeaten century to place his side in position to clinch the National League title of 2019 on the competition’s penultimate day Sunday.

Barisal Division batsmen Shamsur Rahman and Marshall Ayub also scored centuries against Dhaka Metropolis on the same day, while Rangpur Division all-rounder Ariful Haque bagged six wickets against Rajshahi Division.

Khulna Division v Dhaka Division

Wicketkeeper Nurul, who resumed the day on 56, remained not out on 150 to stretch the Khulna innings from 252/3 to 379, in reply to Dhaka’s 279 at Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium, Khulna.

Khulna seemed to be cruising to a much bigger score, but Dhaka spinner Shuvagata Hom picked up five wickets as the hosts collapsed, losing their last seven wickets for 105 runs after the fall of overnight batsman Tushar Imaran (82).

Shuvagata also had to resurrect his side with the bat later in the day, as his crucial 42 saw his side finish on 102/5 at stumps after being on a precarious 10/4 in their second innings. Ziaur Rahman of Khulna bagged three wickets.

Rajshahi Division v Rangpur Division

Rangpur, the bottom side of tier-1, needed a miracle early in the morning to get a crucial first-innings lead, and Ariful exactly did that at Shahid Kamruzzaman Stadium, Rajshahi.

Sajedul Islam removed overnight batsman Sabbir Rahman on the very first ball of the day, before Ariful picked up three more wickets. With the aid of a run out, Rangpur bundled out Rajshahi, who resumed on 224-5, for 254 to gain a 20-run lead.

Rangpur finished the day on 228/6 thanks to a not out 72 from Tanbir Hayder and 48 from bowling hero Ariful. Delwar Hossain picked up four wickets for Rahjshahi.

Barisal Division v Dhaka Metropolis

Overnight batsmen Shamsur and Marshall scored 103 and 109, respectively, while Al Amin notched 92 to help Barisal post 466 in reply of Metro’s 414. Metro ended the day on 30/3.
