Bangladeshi all-rounder, cricketer Shakib Al Hassan has visited the Anti-Corruption Commission Headquarters in Dhaka.

He visited the ACC Headquarters at 9am on Sunday.

Shakib stayed at the headquarters for over an hour to exchange pleasantries, ACC Deputy Director (Public Relations) Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya confirmed the matter.

Pranab said, Shakib went to meet the ACC chairman in his capacity as the ACC’s goodwill ambassador.

His visit comes four days after the International Cricket Council (ICC) banned him for two years from all forms of cricket with one year suspension for failing to report three approaches by an alleged bookie.

Shakib's ban will end on October 29, 2021.

However, the former captain of the Bangladesh Cricket Team did not speak to the media assembled in front of the ACC office.

On September 12, 2017, all-rounder Shakib was named the ACC’s goodwill envoy with a view to encourage the country's youth to become active in preventing corruption.

After Shakib was banned, the ACC chairman said: “Shakib is not involved in any corruption. The ACC is by his side at all times.”

On October 31, the ACC chairman said: "The incident that happened to Shakib is very sad. But at the same time, he confessed which indicates his high morales. During the times when ACC sought help from him (Shakib), he worked with us without any fees.

“He is an icon for young people. Hopefully we will get Shakib back as usual.”
