Bangladesh made a bright start in the Asian Cricket Council Women’s Emerging Teams Cup as they beat Pakistan by 65 runs Saturday at the picturesque Navy headquarters ground in Welisara.
On the same day the senior women lost to Pakistan in the first of three T20Is at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, the Emerging Women made up for the disappointment by outclassing their Pakistani counterparts.
The women in red and green made 181 losing eight wickets in 48 overs in the rain-curtailed tie, opener Murshida Khatun top-scoring with 69 off 112 balls, featuring seven fours.
Together with fellow opener Ishma Tanjim (20), player of the match Murshida added 61 to lay the platform for a competitive total.
Lower-order batter Fahima Khatun put the finishing touch to the innings by remaining unbeaten on 34.

The wasteful Pakistan bowlers conceded 22 extras, including 18 wides.
In reply, Pakistan lose wickets at regular intervals and were eventually bundled out for a paltry 116 in 43.4 overs in the face of some disciplined bowling by Bangladesh.
Rabeya and Shaila Sharmin bagged three wickets each for Bangladesh while opening bowler Nahida Akter took two.
Fahima and Mumta Hena Hasnat picked up one apiece.
Bangladesh will take on host Sri Lanka at the iconic R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo Sunday and a win against the home side will take the visitor one step closer to the grand finale.
