Bangladesh gave it all they got but still fell 48 runs short against Australia in their World Cup match at Trent Bridge Thursday.
Chasing a more than competitive 382 for victory, the Tigers were restricted to 333 for the loss of eight wickets in their stipulated 50 overs.
Mushfiqur Rahim remained unbeaten on 102 off 97 balls, studded with nine fours and a six, while Mahmudullah and Tamim Iqbal chipped in with 69 and 62 respectively, but it all proved to be inadequate in the end.
Mitchell Starc, Nathan Coulter-Nile and Marcus Stoinis bagged two wickets each.

The Tigers now have no breathing space if they are to qualify for the semi-final.
They must win their remaining three matches against Afghanistan, Pakistan and India and hope for other favorable results.
Earlier, Australia captain Aaron Finch won the toss and elected to bat first on a good batting pitch.
Bangladesh made two changes to their playing XI from the last match as Saifuddin and Mosaddek Hossain were replaced by Rubel Hossain and Sabbir Rahman, while Australia made three alterations to their playing XI.
Warner-Finch opening partnership
Australia made a strong start to their innings as opening pair David Warner and Finch put on 121 in 20.4 overs. Part-time bowler Soumya Sarkar initiated the breakthrough as Finch got out after scoring 53 off 51 deliveries.
Warner then formed a 192-run partnership with Usman Khawaja to guide Australia to a strong total.
Along the way, Warner picked up his 16th ODI century, and second of the tournament.

Warner was dismissed after scoring a brilliant 166-run innings, with 14 fours and five sixes, in the 45th over as Soumya again made the breakthrough.
Khawaja batted nicely at the other end and gave good support as the left-hander scored 89 off just 72 deliveries with 10 boundaries, before getting out in the 47th over.
The wicket-taker was Soumya again as he finished with bowling figure of 3/58 in eight overs.
Maxwell blitz and rain break
Australia were 309 for one after 44 overs.
After Warner got out, Maxwell came to bat at No 4 and blasted a 10-ball 32 with two fours and three sixes.
There was a rain break for around 20 minutes after 49 overs were bowled.
The score was 368 for five then.

Later, play resumed and Mustafizur Rahman conceded 13 runs in the last over, which meant Australia finished the innings on 381 for the loss of five wickets.
Pacer Rubel, who came in for the injured Saifuddin, gave away the most among the Tigers bowlers - 83 in nine overs without taking a wicket.
Soumya picked three while Mustafizur bagged one.
