Players of the Dhaka Premier League side Prime Bank Cricket Club have come forward to support left-arm spinner Mosharraf Rubel’s fight against brain tumour. The players and officials of the club handed over their prize money that they won in their last two matches to Mosharraf, as a gesture of supporting his combat against the deadly disease.

“The players and the officials decided to support Mosharraf and thus have come up with the plan to hand him the match-winning bonus. A total of Tk four lakhs – two lakhs from each of the two wins,” said Prime Bank coach Sarwar Imran to the media on Sunday.

Mosharraf was diagnosed with glioma in the brain last month. As the news spread, different parts of the cricketing fraternity extended their support to the cricketer who travelled to Singapore for treatment.

Later in the month, Mosharraf underwent a successful surgery at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore. Although the biopsy of the tumour revealed satisfactory results the cricketer still needs to undergo 30 radiotherapy and 50 chemotherapy sessions over the next six months.

Mosharraf has played five ODIs for Bangladesh and is a regular in the top domestic competition of the country. The left-handed all-rounder was picked by Gazi Group Cricketers for the ongoing Dhaka League but the disease denied him from participating in the 50-over tournament.
