An all-round performance from captain Farhad Reza helped Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club defeat Gazi Group Cricketers by three wickets in their Dhaka Premier League T20 match in Mirpur’s Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Thursday.
The result means that Doleshwar qualify as the final team for the semi-final, based on a better net run rate.
Batting first, Gazi Group scored 145/6 while in reply Doleshwar chased down the total with 12 deliveries to spare.
For Gazi, opener Mahedi Hasan was the top-scorer with 39 from 24 deliveries in an innings that had six boundaries and one maximum.
Captain Shamsur Rahman played a steady innings of 36 from 30 balls but he lacked partners to elevate the score further.
Farhad Reza was the pick of the bowlers taking 2/18 in his four overs.
Doleshwar lost wickets at regular intervals but were never too far behind the asking run rate.
Middle order batsman Farhad Hossain scored a steady 32 from 25 balls with four boundaries and one maximum.

But the match-winning partnership came from Saykat Ali and Reza as they took the score from 73/5 from 124/6 in 4.2 overs before Farhad was run out.
He scored 36 from just 15 balls in an innings that had three fours and as many sixes and was adjudged man-of-the-match for his efforts.
But the unsung hero of the match was Saykat, who remained unbeaten on 28 from 21 balls and guided his side home.
