Dhaka Dynamites off-spinner Aliss al Islam created a slice of history Friday at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka when he became only the third ever bowler to bag a hat-trick in the BPL.
Aliss dismissed Rangpur Riders’ Mohammad Mithun, captain Mashrafe bin Mortaza and Farhad Reza in the last three deliveries of the 18th over to join the likes of Mohammad Sami and Al Amin Hossain to pick up a hat-trick in the BPL.
Sami registered his hat-trick in the 2011/12 season for Duronto Rajshahi against Dhaka Gladiators, while Al Amin notched his for Barisal Bulls against Sylhet Super Stars in the 2015/16 season.
What made the feat all the more remarkable was that it was Aliss’ T20 debut.
The Dynamites eventually won the game by two runs.

Following his match-winning exploits, Aliss said he just tried to keep it simple in the middle, and credited his teammates and head coach Khaled Mahmud Sujon for supporting him after the 22-year old dropped two catches.
“It’s my first BPL game. Actually it’s my first match in stadium. I was nervous. After dropped two catches, teammates and the coach gave me support. That gave me confidence. I just tried to bowl in good areas,” said Aliss during the post-match press conference.
Aliss went down memory lane and recalled how he became a part of the Dynamites’ set-up.
“My career started at Kathalbagan Green Crescent Club. Then I played in the second division for a few years. Then played in the first division in Dhaka League. I was a net bowler for the Dynamites. I was bowling in the nets, Sujon sir believed I could be a part of the Dynamites, and later he picked me. Later, team management and players supported me,” he said.
Aliss finished with bowling figure of 4-0-26-4.
