No fracture was found on Liton Kumar Das' left ankle after the opening batsman was hit by a delivery from seamer Oshane Thomas during the second ODI between Bangladesh and the West Indies at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka Tuesday. Liton later came out to bat before being dismissed for eight by seamer Keemo Paul.
The Tigers started their innings with opener Tamim Iqbal and Liton. In the third ball of the second over, Liton was injured as a yorker length delivery from Thomas hit his left ankle. The two batsmen completed a run but Liton was in pain immediately after the ball hit his leg. Later, he was carried away by a stretcher and No 3 batsman Imrul Kayes came out to bat.
The right-handed batsman was then taken to a nearby diagnostic centre immediately for x-ray to determine the type and extent of the injury.
Prior to Tuesday, Liton had scored 220 runs in eight innings this year with an average of 31.42 and a strike rate of 84.94. He scored a brilliant century against India during the Asia Cup final in the UAE earlier this year but Bangladesh eventually lost the game in a last-ball thriller.
