Both the matches in the second round of the Bangladesh Cricket League ended in a draw in the fourth and final day Saturday.
BCB North Zone chasing 284 runs were kept in control as pacer Abu Haider Rony bagged six wickets.
While for Islami Bank East Zone, the decision to impose the follow-on on opponent Prime Bank South Zone backfired as the latter sustained the bowling, and survived on the final day of the game to push the game to a draw.
Central Zone v North Zone
Walton Central Zone were denied a win by North Zone by just one wicket.
Chasing 284 runs, North Zone began the final day in Bogra’s Shaheed Chandu Stadium on their overnight score of 7/1.
Nightwatchman Sanjamul Islam played a 92-run innings, while captain Jahurul Islam and Sabbir Rahman added 52 and unbeaten 26 to the tally.
But the fall of wickets in regular intervals, courtesy Central Zone pacer Haider’s maiden first-class five-wicket haul kept the chase in control, and take the side near to a win.
Sabbir found Al Amin Hossain as the last batsman to face seven balls before time ran out, and the match officials removed the bails as the game ended in a draw.
Haider was complemented well by Robiul Haque’s three wickets as North Zone ended on 255 for the loss of nine wickets.
