Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib al Hasan has been released from hospital and sent home Sunday but the BCB is concerned about his finger injury that aggravated to such an extent that raises concerns about his future.
Apollo Hospital, where Shakib underwent an operation, gave a statement on Shakib’s treatment Sunday.
“We have taken the matter very seriously after Shakib was admitted to our hospital Thursday. We had decided to take immediate surgery after consulting with the BCB. We were able to extract 50-60ml pus from his injured hand,” the official statement said.
“Then we sent the sample to laboratory for cultural and sensitivity test of the infection. The report suggests that the infection occurred due to Pseudomonas type of bacteria. Our operation was successful and he (Shakib) has recovered well. Shakib has taken release letter from the hospital Sunday,” it added.
Tigers ODI captain Mashrafe bin Mortaza visited the ailing Shakib at Apollo Sunday morning. Later, BCB boss Nazmul Hasan also visited the hospital and talked with the all-rounder about his current health condition.
Shakib’s left finger was injured back in January while attempting a diving catch against Sri Lanka during the tri-nation series final at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka.

The southpaw needed surgery for the recovery but he withheld it for continuous international responsibility for the country that only worsened his condition.
During the recently concluded Asia Cup his fingers were swollen and the situation was so dire that he could not hold the bat properly, hence forced to return home before the crucial match against Pakistan Wednesday.
He underwent an urgent operation at Apollo Thursday and the doctors were astonished to discover the state of his hand.
It was also diagnosed that further delay would make his left hand dysfunctional and now the world’s best all-rounder needs at least three weeks before the necessary surgery on his finger, and will require at least three months before returning to competitive action.
It was learnt that, surgery of Shakib’s injured hand may take place in the USA or England or even may be Australia.
BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury informed that they will give their best for the treatment of Shakib, and will also take his consent about where the surgery should take place.

“We will try to arrange the best possible available treatment procedure for Shakib. We will make all the arrangements with Shakib’s consent as well. We will try to give him the best medical arrangement for the treatment,’ said Nizamuddin.
Shakib’s infection has most probably started from around the base of his little finger and he showed that to Bangladesh’s physio Thihan Chandramohan during the Asia Cup.
The physio sent Shakib’s X-ray and scan reports regularly to doctors in Australia and England and one of them suggested that there could be an infection.
As he felt excruciating pain, the all-rounder underwent another scan Monday in Dubai and its report forced him to stay away from playing cricket.
The No 1 all-rounder of the world thought the physio should have comprehended his situation but he was not blaming him.
"I have been in this state for the last 14-15 days. The doctor immediately understood what had happened, but our physio couldn't find out. It is true that the physio couldn't detect the problem. There was a bit of mistake so he has to take some of the responsibility. But I won't blame him fully. Nobody knew that it would become infected," Shakib said to media Saturday.

Shakib also informed that the BCB president Nazmul had asked him to take part in the Asia Cup, but he gave the nod only after getting a green signal from the physio.
"The BCB president asked if I could play the Asia Cup or I will go for the surgery. He told me to take the decision. When I asked the physio about what damage it may have, he told me it won't be that dangerous. Then I decided that since the Asia Cup is important for us, I will play four-five matches with the pain," said Shakib.
Now question rises as to how the physio allowed Shakib to play the Asia Cup, despite the severity of the injury? Are the BCB going to investigate the incident and take proper action if irregularities are found?
In reply to the question, the BCB CEO informed Dhaka Tribune Sunday that the BCB’s priority is to provide Shakib all sorts of aid under the circumstances. The CEO informed that the BCB is currently focusing on Shakib’s condition but they will inquire the matter later.
“If we find any irregularities regarding this matter then we will investigate it later. But at the moment our top most priority is to make proper medical management about Shakib’s injury,” concluded Nizamuddin.
