Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal will fly to London Thursday for the treatment of his injured left index finger. Tamim picked up the injury during their Asia Cup opening match against Sri Lanka.
A slightly short-pitched delivery from Sri Lanka pacer Suranga Lakmal hit Tamim’s left hand and initially, he was ruled of batting. But later he came to bat with a fractured hand and formed a vital partnership with Mushfiqur Rahim that paved the way for a Tigers win.
Initially it was learnt that, such kind of injury usually takes four to six weeks before full recovery. Bangladesh’s next series is against Zimbabwe at home, that will start from October 21.
Tamim is flying to London to know if surgery is required in his injured hand. This will decide whether he can play the home series against Zimbabwe.

“Tamim is going to London to visit a doctor. The doctor will decide whether surgery is required at the moment or not,” said BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury to the media.
BCB physician Dr Debashish Chowdhury hoped Tamim may not require a surgery.
“Tamim is travelling to London in order to check his injured finger in the left hand. He is going to visit Dr David Warwick. We have sent the X-ray copies to the doctor but he wants to inspect the injury by himself. Hopefully Tamim will become fit without a surgery. Let’s see what happens. The whole matter is being coordinated by our team physio Thihan Chandramohan, who is currently in Dubai with the national team,” said Dr Debashish.
Bangladesh will play three ODIs and two Test matches against Zimbabwe.
