Bangladesh were sent in to bat first and the side failed to resist the Sri Lanka bowling attack, getting all out for only 63 runs in 19.3 overs

Bangladesh made a disappointing start in the ACC Women’s Asia Cup T20I 2018. The women in red and green lost to their Sri Lanka counterpart by six wickets following a disastrous performance with the bat at Royal Selangor Club in Kuala Lumpur Sunday.

Bangladesh were sent in to bat first and the side failed to resist the Sri Lanka bowling attack, getting all out for only 63 runs in 19.3 overs. Ayasha Rahman made 11 while Rumana Ahmed and Nigar Sultana scored 10 each as none of the other batters reached double digit.

Sri Lanka’s Sugandika Kumari led the attack with three wickets in four overs, conceding 17 runs.

Defending the target was a massive task for the Bangladesh bowlers and as expected, Sri Lanka reached the shore in 14.3 overs. Yasoda Mendis and Nipuni Hansika got the side off to a smooth start, scoring 20 and 23 respectively. Bangladesh’s Khadija-tul Kubra picked up three wickets while the fourth Sri Lanka wicket came from a run out.

In the other two games of the day, Pakistan thrashed Thailand by eight wickets while India thumped host Malaysia by 142 runs.

Bangladesh in their second game of the six-nation tournament will play Pakistan at Kinrara Oval Monday.
