BU, PU advance to ULAB Fair Play Cup semis

Bangladesh University and Prime University joined ULAB and European University of Bangladesh in the semi-finals of the 11th ULAB Fair Play Cup Inter Private University Cricket Tournament after winning their respective Super Eight matches Sunday in Dhaka. BU defeated Daffodil International University by 53 runs while PU beat Stamford University Bangladesh by 60 runs. In the first game of the day, BU, asked to bat first posted 200 for the loss of three wickets in their stipulated 20 overs, player of the match Jahirul Islam top-scoring with a fine 66-ball 110, featuring 14 fours and half a dozen sixes. In reply, DIU were all out for 147 in 17.3 overs, BU's Sohel Rana bagging four wickets.

In the second match, PU, batting first registered 121 before losing all of their wickets in 19.4 overs. Opener Emran Rafi played a lone hand, scoring 51 off 44 balls. SUB's Shamsu Uddin picked up three scalps. In pursuit of 122, SUB were bundled out for just 61 in 15.2 overs, opener Shakib Murad (20) the only batsman to reach double figure. PU's Rafi and Nahid Rifat took three wickets apiece. Rafi was later adjudged player of the match.
