Khelaghar Samaj Kalyan Samity continued their impressive run in the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League 2017-18 season as they defeated Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited convincingly by six wickets at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka Friday.
In the other matches of the day, Legends of Rupganj defeated Brothers Union by seven wickets at BKSP in Savar to move to second position in the points table while Lt. Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club defeated Kalabagan Krira Chakra by 73 runs in Fatullah’s Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Cricket Stadium.Khelaghar v MohammedanMohammedan elected to bat first and started brightly, scoring 73 in 12 overs in the opening stand. But Khelaghar struck back with regular wickets as Mohammedan were bundled out for just 181 in 45.4 overs. In-form Khelaghar spinner Tanvir Islam was brilliant once again as he took four wickets conceding just 30 runs. Opener Jony Talukdar was the top-scorer for Mohammedan with 55.
In reply, Khelaghar reached the target within 42 overs. Indian recruit Ashok Menaria scored another half-century, remaining unbeaten on 54 to guide his team to victory. No 3 batsman Amit Majumder was the highest-scorer with 76.Rupganj v BrothersRupganj clinched their seventh win of the season to secure 14 points, same as table-topper Abahani Limited. But due to better run-rate, Abahani are at the summit. Brothers, asked to bat first, were all out for just 178 in 48.1 overs. Opener Mizanur Rahman scored 63. Rupganj’s Mohammad Shahid and Asif Hasan took four wickets each.
In pursuit of 179, Rupganj reached the destination in 37.3 overs. In reply, Kalabagan only managed to score 190 losing all of their wickets in 47.3 overs. Kalabagan’s Muktar Ali and Taibur Rahman scored identical 51s but their efforts were not enough in avoiding yet another loss.
