Legends of Rupganj clinched their sixth win of the season by defeating Kalabagan Krira Chakra by 26 runs to move to second position in the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League points table Monday.
In the other matches of the day, Khelaghar Samaj Kalyan Samity continued their impressive run in the DPL as they beat Lt. Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club by six wickets while Agrani Bank Cricket Club sealed a thrilling three-wicket win over Brothers Union.Khelaghar v Sheikh JamalKhelaghar elected to field at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka. Controlled bowling by the Khelaghar attack restricted Sheikh Jamal from scoring free runs from the very beginning. At one stage, Sheikh Jamal were reduced to 69 for six wickets in 23.1 overs. But Tanbir Hayder scored 52 to take his team past the 150-mark. Sheikh Jamal were eventually all out for 167 in 48 overs. Tanvir Islam took four wickets for Khelaghar, conceding 30 runs, while Anjum Ahmed took three wickets for just 16 runs.
In reply, Khelaghar eased past their target with 10 overs to spare. Rafsan al Mahmud made 49 while Ashok Menaria was unbeaten on 58.Rupganj v KalabaganAsked to bat first, Rupganj posted 314 for the loss of five wickets in their stipulated 50 overs at BKSP 3. Salauddin Pappu smashed a brilliant century, scoring 125 off only 95 deliveries. The wicketkeeper-batsman smashed a dozen fours and eight sixes. Captain Naeem Islam scored a quick 61 in the latter part of the innings to take Rupganj past 300.
Chasing 315, Kalabagan started well and at one stage were batting on 122 losing one wicket after 27 overs. But regular wickets at the middle halted their charge and eventually, Kalabagan were bowled out for 288 with one ball remaining. Shreevats Goswami was the top-scorer with 75 while Mohammad Ashraful scored 64.Agrani Bank v Brothers Agrani Bank secured an exciting victory over Brothers in Fatullah’s Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Cricket Stadium. Invited to take first guard, Brothers registered a challenging total of 289/6 in their allotted 50 overs, riding on Mizanur Rahman’s century. Mizanur scored 102 with nine boundaries and three sixers. Junaid Siddique made 92. Shafiul Islam took four wickets for Agrani Bank conceding 48 runs.
