Bangladesh women suffer 67-run defeat against Pakistan

Update : 08 Feb 2017, 07:55 PM
Bangladesh were bundled out for 160 runs in 49.3 overs after Pakistan posted 227 all out in their allotted 50 overs. Batting first, Pakistan made a steady start, adding 76 for the opening wicket with opening batter Ayesha Zafar scoring 34 and Nahida Khan making 28 to set the platform for a challenging total. Bangladesh however, came back well and tightened things for the opposition but a collective batting approach from Pakistan enabled them to a good total at the end. Bismah Maroof top-scored with 35 off 52 balls with four boundaries while Rabiya Shah (34) and Aliya Riaz (31) chipped in with vital contributions. Rumana Ahmed picked up three wickets while Khadija-tul Kubra and Salma Khatun took two each. In reply, Bangladesh once again struggled with the bat and never looked like chasing down the target, due to their slow batting approach. Pedestrian batting eventually cost Bangladesh the game with only Nigar Sultana (41) and Sanjida Islam (34) offering any sort of resistance. Leg-spinner Ghulam Fatima bagged three wickets while Nashra Sandhu and captain Sana Mir notched two apiece. Both Bangladesh and Pakistan now have one win and a defeat each to their credit from two matches. The women in red and green will take on Scotland in their third Group B game Friday.BRIEF SCOREBangladesh women 160 in 49.3 overs (Nigar 41, Sanjida 34, Fatima 3/28) lost to Pakistan women 227 (Bismah 35, Rabiya 34, Rumana 3/40) by 67 runs
