Update : 31 Dec 2017, 07:13 PM
Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal admitted that former head coach Chandika Hathurusingha had helped the Tigers improve in the last few years and also wished him good luck for his Sri Lanka stint. Hathurusingha took charge of the Bangladesh team in May, 2014. Under his coaching, Bangladesh made significant improvements, including reaching the quarter-final in the 2015 World Cup, and winning home series' against India, Pakistan and South Africa. Hathurusingha though resigned from the post of head coach of the Tigers during a tough away series against South Africa in October before taking up the job of his home country. In a recent interview, Hathurusingha said he has done his part and left the post of Bangladesh coach as he felt he had nothing more to give to the Tigers. When questioned about Hathurusingha's comment, Tamim praised the former coach and wished him luck. “I can't say he finished his job, but obviously he has done good for Bangladesh cricket. He was our coach for about four years. In these years as a team Bangladesh achieved a lot of success. So definitely credit goes to him as well. He has done brilliant work with some players individually. But he is now the coach of Sri Lanka and I wish him good luck for his new role,” Tamim said to the media at BCB Academy Ground in Mirpur, Dhaka, after their practice session, ahead of the tri-nation series against visiting sides Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe.
