Nasir closing in on 300 as runs galore in NCL

Rangpur batsman Nasir Hossain is fast approaching his triple hundred as heaps of runs marked the third and penultimate day’s play of the sixth and final round of the Walton 19th National Cricket League Friday. Nasir finished the day unbeaten on 270 off 467 balls, featuring 29 fours and three sixes as Rangpur posted 570 losing five wickets in 166 overs at stumps against Barisal in Chittagong’s Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Cricket Stadium. Nasir was supported brilliantly by Ariful Haque, who smashed 162 off 290 deliveries, including 10 boundaries and a couple of over boundaries. Together, the fifth-wicket pair of Nasir and Ariful added 368. Monir Hossain picked up three wickets for Barisal. Barisal earlier registered 335 in their first innings, thus giving Rangpur a 235-run lead heading into the final day’s play Saturday.

Dhaka v KhulnaThe tie between the capital city outfit and Khulna at BKSP in Dhaka is tilted heavily in the latter’s favour. After day three, Dhaka put on 169 for the loss of four wickets in 66 overs in their second innings, Rakibul Hasan top-scoring with a 115-ball 58, studded with half a dozen fours. Khulna had earlier declared their first innings on 459/8 in 91 overs, Anamul Haque scoring the highest 251-ball 202 for his side. Anamul struck 23 boundaries and four sixers and alongside Mahadi Hasan (177), added 295 for the second wicket. Dhaka bowlers Sharif and Shuvagata Hom shared six wickets between themselves. Dhaka had made 113 in their first innings. Overall, Khulna lead by 177 runs.Dhaka Metropolis v RajshahiThe game between Dhaka Metro and Rajshahi in Rajshahi’s Shaheed Kamruzzaman Stadium is heading for a draw in all likelihood. Rajshahi ended the day on 460/5 in 100.2 overs, leading Dhaka Metro by 132 runs. Rajshahi’s Nazmul Hossain top-scored with a 296-ball 194, composed with 21 fours, while Mizanur Rahman made 175 off 210 deliveries, featuring 30 boundaries and a couple of sixes. Nihaduzzaman bagged three wickets for Dhaka Metro. Dhaka Metro had earlier made 328 in their first innings.

Sylhet v ChittagongThe port city outfit are slightly ahead at Sylhet International Stadium, as Sylhet ended the day on 78/2 in 34.1 overs in their second innings, still needing 380 runs for victory. Chittagong earlier declared their second innings on 380/7 in 106 overs, Yasir Ali scoring the highest 102 off 176 balls. Enamul Haque Jr took three wickets for Sylhet.
