Anamul, Mahedi tons put Khulna in driving seat

Defending champion Khulna are in total control of the sixth and final round game of the Walton 19th National Cricket League. With unbeaten 167- and 168-run knocks from Anamul Haque and Mahedi Hasan respectively, Khulna are in the driving seat against Dhaka. In the second tier one match, Nasir Hossain’s unbeaten century against Barisal kept Rangpur at bay. Meanwhile, Chittagong are in the lead after dismissing Sylhet for a below-par score in the first innings while a delayed start due to fog has slowed down the tie between Rajshahi and Dhaka Metropolis.Khulna v Dhaka, BKSP 3, Tier oneAnamul and Mahedi’s undefeated centuries took Khulna to the driving seat as they posted a 257-run lead against Dhaka at stumps on day two. The game resumed at BKSP Ground 3 after a delayed start due to fog. Khulna started the morning on 23 without loss and by the end of the day, they were flying high on 370 losing just one wicket in the first innings. Anamul lost his opening partner Soumya Sarkar, who made 30, but the former batted long and built an unbeaten 261-run stand with Mahedi for the second wicket. Anamul at stumps was unbeaten on 167 with 18 boundaries and four over boundaries. Mahedi batted aggressively as he remained not out on 168 off just 151 balls with 20 fours and two sixes. Dhaka's Mohammad Shahid bagged the lone wicket for his side.Rangpur v Barisal, ZACS, Tier oneNasir’s unbeaten century kept Rangpur alive in their fight to stave off relegation against Barisal. At stumps on day two, Rangpur trailed by 71 runs in Chittagong’s Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Cricket Stadium. Barisal resumed their first innings on the day and stretched their total to 335 all-out from 280 for the loss of six wickets. Tanbir Hayder, Subashish Roy and Ariful Haque picked up three wickets each for Rangpur. In reply, Rangpur scored 264 losing four wickets, relying on Nasir’s undefeated 101, before the umpires removed the bails to call it a day. Nasir on the day faced 167 deliveries and slammed 12 boundaries and a couple of sixers. Naeem Islam added 54 to the tally. Monir Hossain bagged three scalps for Barisal.

Chittagong v Sylhet, Sylhet, Tier twoChittagong have a lead of 267 after they bundled Sylhet out for 137 before posting 189 for five wickets in the second innings at Sylhet International Stadium. Chittagong had Sylhet on the back-foot as the latter resumed the day on 54 for three. Iftekhar Sajjad Rony made use of the situation well and bagged five wickets for the port city outfit while Mahedi Hasan Rana took three. Abul Hasan’s 27 was the highest of the Sylhet innings. Later, Chittagong batted 54.4 overs in the day to score 189 losing five wickets. The side got off to a good start as both the openers struck half-centuries. Sadikur Rahman scored 54 while Jashim added 56 to the board before getting dismissed. Sylhet's Ebadat Hossain picked up two wickets.Rajshahi v Dhaka Metro, Rajshahi, Tier twoThere has been very little progress in the match as the second day's between Rajshahi and Dhaka Metro in Rajshahi’s Shaheed Kamruzzaman Stadium had a delayed start. After 75 overs of play in the day, Rajshahi trail by 233 runs in the first innings without any loss. Dhaka Metro resumed their first innings and took the total to 328 from their overnight score of 210 for four. Rajshahi's Taijul Islam registered a five-for. In reply, Rajshahi batted 20 overs to post 95 without loss.
