Lewis gets out by hitting wicketDhaka Dynamites opener Evin Lewis became the first batsman in BPL 2017 to get out by hitting the wicket during their last match of the group stage against Rangpur Riders. The incident happened in the second ball of the 10th over, bowled by spinner Nahidul Islam. Lewis went to the backfoot and tried to play a cut shot. Lewis however, played in the wrong line and his bat hit the stumps as the bails were dislodged. Lewis backed away too far to try and force a cut with minimal room available. The bat broke the off-stump as he was playing that shot. Dhaka were struggling to score runs at the beginning and Lewis’ dismissal put them in further trouble. The big hitter was quiet with the bat as he made 14 off 18 balls.Shakib hits McCullum’s middle stumpDhaka captain Shakib al Hasan produced an all-round performance to guide his team to a convincing win and seal a top two spot in the points table. Riding on Shakib’s 47-run innings, Dhaka posted a challenging total of 137. Shakib’s late surge gave Dhaka some confidence on a relatively low pitch. Rangpur needed a quickfire start in order to chase down the target, particularly from the top-order batsman Brendon McCullum. But the former Kiwi captain was cleaned up after scoring just one run off seven deliveries. And the important wicket was taken by none other than Shakib. Shakib also took the wicket of the in-form Rangpur batsman Mohammad Mithun, and once again finished with brilliant bowling figure of 4-1-13-2. And so, captain Shakib led from the front and delivered during moments of crisis.
