Bangladesh Cricket Board Wednesday announced the 15-member squad for the upcoming U-19 World Cup.
Saif Hasan will lead the side while Afif Hossain will be his deputy. Selector Ehsanul Haque declared the squad at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium’s conference room in Dhaka.
The World Cup for the young and emerging cricketers will be played in New Zealand next year. Considering the condition, four pacers have been picked in the squad.
“We have taken four pacers considering the condition. If we can play according to our ability then we have a good chance of playing in the semi-final. We have tried to choose our best possible squad for the tournament,” Ehsanul said to the media after the squad announcement.
Bangladesh U-19 coach Damien Wright was present among others in the presser.
Bangladesh have been pitted in Group C group along with Namibia, Canada and England. The Bangladesh youngsters will play their first match against Namibia on January 13 before facing Canada two days later. They will then take on England on January 18 in their third and final group stage match.
