Update : 05 Dec 2017, 08:09 PM
Brathwaite’s unusual run-outKhulna Titans batsman Carlos Brathwaite came out to bat when they lost the wicket of the West Indies’ Nicholas Pooran in the 15th over against Comilla Victorians. Khulna were batting on 103 runs for the loss of four wickets inside 15 overs and needed some quick runs to post a challenging total. Brathwaite and Ariful Haque did exactly that, forming a 47-run partnership for the fifth wicket in just four overs. Brathwaite was connecting the ball well as he scored 22 of just 12 balls. And among those 12 deliveries, he scored three fours and a big six. Things were looking good for Khulna but just then they lost the wicket of Brathwaite in unusual fashion. In the fifth ball of the 19th over Ariful played a straight drive and the ball touched bowler Mehedi Hasan Rana’s boot before dislodging the bails. The unlucky Brathwaite was well short and got run out. Perhaps Khulna missed out on eight-10 runs as the big-hitting Brathwaite was looking impressive and could have added more to the total had he stayed till the end.Irfan spins web around Malik Comilla middle-order batsman Shoaib Malik played a crucial knock during their chase of 175 as the veteran right-hander struck three sixes, keeping Comilla well on course. Malik smashed two sixes against England’s Benny Howell and one off Pakistan leg-spinner Mohammad Irfan. But Irfan soon took the vital wicket of Malik in the last ball of the 17th over and it dealt a major blow to Comilla’s chase as they eventually fell 14 short of their target at the end. It was a flighted delivery down the leg side and Malik came down the pitch, only to manage a leading edge that lobbed to point. And Mahmudullah took an easy catch. Malik scored 36 off 23 balls with one boundary and three sixers. Malik’s wicket was vital in the context of the game as the leggie did the trick for Khulna.
