Sylhet thrash sorry Chittagong

Sylhet Sixers thrashed Chittagong Vikings by 10 wickets in their BPL 2017 match at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka Sunday. Sylhet only needed 12 overs to chase down their 68-run target with all wickets in hand. Despite the big win however, Sylhet exited the money-spinning tournament after Rangpur Riders defeated Khulna Titans by 19 runs in the second game of the day at the same venue. Opener Andre Fletcher scored 32 of 34 balls with four fours and a six while the other opening batsman Mohammad Rizwan made 36 off 33 deliveries with half a dozen boundaries as Sylhet romped to their destination. Earlier, Sylhet captain Nasir Hossain elected to field.Nasir ripped through the Chittagong top-order as he took five wickets in his four-over spell, conceding 31 runs. Nasir picked up the wickets of captain Luke Ronchi (six), opener Soumya Sarkar (nought), No 3 batsman Luis Reece (12), South Africa’s Stiaan van Zyl (11) and all-rounder Tanbir Hayder (five). Only three Chittagong batsmen – Reece, Van Zyl and lower-order batter Irfan Sukkur (15) – reached double figure in what was a dominant bowling display by Sylhet. Sylhet spinner Nabil Samad also bowled well as he took three wickets while off-spinner Sharifullah bagged two. Nasir was adjudged man of the match. Chittagong’s poor tournament continued as they tasted their eighth loss in 11 matches. Ronchi admitted that they were unable to play as a team once even.“There must be some lacking from ourselves, because we only won two games. I've been asked that question after every loss, so if we knew what was going on, how to rectify and change, we would have. The pitch was okay I guess. Our bowlers bowled really well. Some of the opponent batsmen’s shots were not good as well. We won the first three matches. Then we had a bad run. Then we targeted finishing the tournament on a high note. Our bowlers bowled with accuracy. The pitch became easier in the second innings. Wicket was a bit difficult at the beginning but that does not mean it’s that much low-scoring wicket. Our captain Nasir [Hossain] bhai bowled brilliantly. So our aim was to play good cricket in our remaining two matches. We played well and won. It was just soft dismissals again. We bowled well enough to show that you can't go out there and blast away as a batsman, so it's just soft dismissals again. It was just poor batting. Two completely different wickets, from what I saw of [Saturday’s] stuff and [Sunday]; it was a different wicket, it was just really getting out to different shots and different dismissals and things like that. It was more just the batting than the pitch. It was probably a 140-150 sort of wicket. They were on 70 after 11 overs. So I think 150 is sort of the par mark if the wicket is like [Sunday's] wicket.
