Bangladesh U-19 miss out on ACC Asia Cup finals

Bangladesh U-19 were beaten by two runs according to D/L method by Pakistan u-19 in the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Under-19 Asia Cup 2017 first semi-final match at Royal Selangor Club Mont Kiara in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The U-19 Tigers put up a good effort with the bat and the ball but all was for naught as rain swept away their chances of making it to the finals as Pakistan qualified.Bangladesh opener Pinak Ghosh had a brilliant knock of 82 for 93 balls in which he had eight 4’s and one 6. Skipper Saif Hassan (61) provided some much needed stability as the other opener Mohammad Naim (14) fell early. Pakistan’s Munir Riaz was threatening as he took 3 wickets conceding only 53 runs in 8 overs. Pakistan’s opening duo was dismissed fast as Muhammad Arif fell for 4 runs. Mohammad Taha steadied Pakistans help with his innings of 92 runs in 97 balls till he was caught out by Nayeem Hasan from Qazi Onik’s delivery. Rain stopped the play in the 39th over as Bangladesh bowlers picked up momentum once more. The Pakistan side struggled to find a partnership but were ahead by 2 runs according to the DL method and eventually won.Bangladesh was the Group A winner, victorious in all 3 matches and also knocked out defending champions, India. Pakistan was second in their group with 2 wins from 3 matches as Afghanistan was the winner of Group B.The other semi-final between Afghanistan and Group A runners up Nepal will be held here on the 17th of November. The ACC Under-19 Asia Cup is a 50-over international cricket tournament organized by the Asian Cricket Council for Under-19 teams from its member nations.
