Khulna Titans registered their first points on the board when they beat Sylhet Sixers by six wickets in their BPL 2017 match at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium Wednesday. Asked to bat first, the home side posted a respectable 135 runs for the loss of five wickets, captain Nasir Hossain top-scoring with a 35-ball 47, featuring five fours. He received able support from Sri Lankan Danushka Gunathilaka (26), Englishman Ross Whiteley (27) and opener Upul Tharanga (26). For a change, the Sylhet opening pair failed to click as the other opener Andre Fletcher was dismissed for just four.Khulna skipper Mahmudullah bagged two wickets, along with Jofra Archer of the West Indies. In reply, the visiting side reached their destination with two overs to spare, thanks to fighting knocks from Australia’s Michael Klinger (47), Mahmudullah (27) and the West Indies’ Carlos Brathwaite (23). Klinger, playing his first game in the fifth edition of the money-spinning tournament, struck five fours to ease the nerves of the Khulna fans. It was man of the match Mahmudullah however, who was the star of the show, courtesy his all-round performance.In the process, the Sylhet leg of the BPL came to an end.
