The incident happened in the fifth ball of the 17th over. Subashish bowled a yorker in the line of the middle stump and Mashrafe dug it out towards the bowler. Subashish then pretended to throw the ball back to the stumps. Mashrafe made a hand gesture that basically told the bowler to go back and bowl. Subashish took offence with that. They then came face to face for an argument. The on-field umpires and Chittagong fielders raced in to try and pull both men away from each other before things got more heated. “That incident between me and Subashish is nothing serious. Such kind of incident often happens during tense moments of a game. I think I should say sorry to Subashish. It’s a part of the game. But the way Subashish erupted, headed towards Mashrafe with an attacking attitude before shouting angrily was not a sensible thing. It seems if Chittagong leg-spinner Tanbir Hayder and Zimbabwe recruit Sikandar Raza had not held Subashish back, then the situation could have turned uglier.Mashrafe is the most senior player in the squad and respected by each and every player. The incident may be considered part of the game but on social media, fans expressed anger towards Subashish to his behavior. Mashrafe, who made his international debut on November 8, 2001, against Zimbabwe, is still going strong as a pace bowler and currently leading the Bangladesh side in ODIs. In the end, Mashrafe played his part during the post-match by admitting that as a senior, he should have handled the situation better.
