To keep the fantastic run of form in the international arena, the Bangladesh cricketers must keep working hard on their fitness, said the Tigers trainer Mario Villavarayan. The former Sri Lankan believes there is always room for improvement as far as fitness is concerned.
“The boys have played a lot of cricket last year which is very good for the team. But we did not work on our fitness much during that period and we are considering that and working on it. Despite having a good fitness level we have to work more to get the best results as everyone is not hundred percent fit but they are improving,” said Villavarayan during the Tigers’ 27-member fitness camp at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium yesterday.
Bangladesh will kick off their busy first quarter in the 2016 with the Twenty20 home series against Zimbabwe ahead of the Asia Cup and World Twenty20. With the niggles and bruises always making way in the dressing room, Villavarayan has a tough job in hand in keeping his charges fit. “As you know fielding and fitness are associated very closely and I think we need to chalk out the areas and work accordingly,” the 42-year-old said.
