Bangladesh have been placed in Group A in the first round of the 2016 ICC World Twenty20 alongside Netherlands, Ireland and newcomers Oman as the International Cricket Council yesterday announced the schedule for the mega event.
Only the group winner will qualify for the Super 10 phase where hosts India, Pakistan, Australia and New Zealand lie in wait.
Group B comprises of Zimbabwe, Afghanistan, Scotland and Hong Kong and the table-toppers will progress to the Super 10 in which South Africa, Sri Lanka, England and the West Indies have been grouped together.
The home side will kick things off when they take on the Kiwis in the Super 10 opener on March 15 in Nagpur while the grand finale is scheduled to be held at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens on April 3.
The Tigers will start their campaign against the Dutch on March 9 at the picturesque Dharmasala before facing the Irish and the Omanese on March 11 and 13 respectively.
The Bangladesh women, who have also qualified for the main round, have been drawn in Group B along with the hosts, England, the West Indies and Pakistan.
The women in red and green will lock horns with the home side in the tournament opener on March 15 in Bengaluru before encountering England, the Windies and Pakistan on March 17, 20 and 24 respectively.
Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, Sri Lanka and Ireland make up Group B.
